25 Years of Life & More!

Updated: Nov 30, 2021

Today, I turn 25 years old. Being 25 years of age means that I have experienced:

25 years of becoming,

300 months of transitioning,

9,125 days of attempting, &

219,000 hours of believing.

So what does that mean?

One lesson that I’m learning is that life is truly a journey. There isn’t one set place that you are going – and in most cases, once you get to “that place” it is only an interim for where God plans to take you next. You never know where you are going to end up or what you will do to make your mark on earth. Most importantly, you never know the person you will become not only to yourself, but to others. The unknown sounds scary, right? It sounds like something to dread – but fear is the one thing that paralyzes most people from making decisions “today” that could impact “tomorrow.”

Your identity matters. It is the one reason you should be fearless every day. It matters where you come from, what you’ve been through, and even how you decide to be to others. Your birth on earth reveals the uniqueness in you. It is what the world has been missing. There could never be another you! Think about it: Spinoff shows are not always as great as the originals, certain brands of food just taste “better” to you, and it is hard to recreate the same moment once it is gone. The same way we treat the tangible and intangible aspects of life are the same way we should honor ourselves – embrace your uniqueness to the world because once you are gone, you are gone.

Be the light that you want to see in others. Offer something just to make that one person smile and look for nothing in return. Turn your eyes from things that don’t deserve your attention or degrade your value. If you aren’t good to yourself, you are no good to the world. Open your ears and heart just enough to receive the wisdom gently imparted by the meekest soul. Not all lessons look like you. Seek no pity, but always carry empathy. Find no shame and judge no person. No two people are the same. Be excited about every thing in your life. I cannot say that I always understood the moment or the phase, but my life “now” does not compare with the life that I have had in the past. Be thankful for your journey. Be thankful for the unknown. Be excited about who you are becoming and believe every day that you have something to offer to the world. Tomorrow isn’t promised but here we are – Tomorrow is waiting on you!

Here’s to 25 years of life, self-reflection, and steady growth!
